Friedrich Merz has appeared to suggest that Iran should not be protected by international law.
He didn’t use those exact words. Even if that is what he literally meant it’s still not a quote.

It is real but probably not what people think. They’re not exactly hiding the fact that they’re using footage from a game.

Journalist’s intrepretation of what someone said shouldn’t be reported as if it was a direct quote. Especially knowing that most people won’t read beyond the headline. It’s sloppy and biased journalism that just further erodes people’s trust in the news.

I assume what you’re suggesting is that we can always “pull the plug” or smash the computer if it gets too smart and starts making threats.
While technically true, I think it both assumes and overlooks a lot. You might not be able to do that once the system has gotten internet access and potentially made thousands of copies of itself. A sufficiently intelligent system might pretend to be dumber than it really is while you still have it air-gapped in a lab - and even if not, we don’t really have the capacity to imagine just how convincing a true AGI could be. It could try to bribe you or make more terrifying threats than you can even think of.
There’s also this one example (for which I unfortunately can’t find the source) where a journalist was questioning whether AGI could truly escape like that. So they made a deal where the journalist acted as the AI scientist and the other person played the AGI. It didn’t take long until that journalist, according to the rules of the game, posted on his social media that he let the AGI escape. They even replayed the game, and he let it escape again. It was never revealed how this happened, but suffice to say that if even a human can do it, then it’s not going to be an issue for AGI.

Broadly speaking, there are two kinds of countries: ones with borders to keep people out, and others with borders to keep people in. The people doing the complaining usually live in the first kind, while the ones not allowed to complain live in the second.

Which is why my keyword-based list of content filters grows by the day. Trying to block the noise feels like a full-time-job sometimes.

I have been looking for a brand that is willing to support buy it for life and right to repair
I have headphones from Meze (Massdrop X Meze 99 Noir) and my understanding is that they don’t use glue in the constructrion of their headphones but everything is held on by screws so that it can be repaired if necessary. I however don’t know where you can get the actual spare parts for them - I’m assuming you need to contact Meze directly for that.
Edit:
If you’re looking for a specific part and can’t find it, just let our Customer Support team know. You can email us at support@mezeaudio.com, and we’ll be happy to help you.

“Juice” is mostly water and sugar. I’m not sure what you expected.

Hallucinations are a GenAI-specific problem - not something that applies to AI systems broadly. The people who worry about AI takeover are talking about Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), which isn’t the same as GenAI like LLMs. AGI is defined as at least as intelligent as a human. If it’s not, then by definition it’s not AGI.
The reason people worry about AGI is that intelligence is what makes us the most powerful species on the planet. The moment something more intelligent shows up, we can’t outsmart it. It’s like stepping into an elevator with someone way stronger than you - whether you survive the ride depends on them, not you.

Much of the outrage culture online is rather foreign to me. It’s not necessarily that I don’t “get” it but I simply can’t relate with the people who engage in it. Writing angry messages about certain people and events, having people pat me on the back for sharing views that they agree with and reading other people sharing these same same views just seems like some kind of fart smelling gathering which simply just doesn’t appeal to me. It’s all just meaningless noise. That kind of “conversation” could go on forever and it wouldn’t ever achieve anything.

I don’t care about the logo. I was just wondered if the plastic is going to be fine. Thanks!

Mighty vaporizer is a pain to clean as well. Not sure how the plastics feel about IPA though.

cause I saw ‘power tools’ and I had a panic over the glass’ safety.
I call her the bottlebrush9000

The contrast between the US and Canada is quite stark considering how similar countries they are on the surface.
And I don’t mean that as an insult to the Canadians!

I think I’ll try a new approach from now on. I had this sit in a bucket of hot soapy water for a day first and that got rid of 90% of it with very little effort. If I just repeat that around once a month instead of letting it get as bad again then I hopefully don’t need to chisel out the tar buildup again in the future.

300k mortage, car payment, two kids, a dog, job that they hate, week long vacation abroad once a year etc.

At some point I realized that when I look at the life of an average person, it’s not something I want for myself. So I probably shouldn’t model my life after theirs and then expect different results.

seeing downvotes on what was simply a friendly introduction post is a bit disheartening.
If it’s any comfort, they didn’t even read your introduction. They saw “AI” in the title and that instantly made you the “other.”
A major chunk of users here are highly ideological and always on the hunt for the enemy. Saying non-critical things of AI is more than enough evidence for them to back up their assumptions about you.

I don’t see any reason to assume that, given enough time, our VR and AI systems wouldn’t get advanced enough that a VR world becomes indistinguishable from reality - and the AI avatars in it impossible to tell from real humans. Hell, they could even be consciouss. While I don’t think we’re there yet, it’s still conceivable that you could be living in exactly that kind of simulation right now and have no idea. We’re already completely fooled by imaginary worlds every single night when we fall asleep.
Yay authoritarian dictatorships!
