Nice article and all, but I’m not sure about the point the author tried to make. It read more like “random notes about case sensitivity in Go module URLs”. I am still unsure what flexibility the author meant to highlight.

All true, but regarding #1: the size of the go.sum and all the indirect deps in the go.mod are also telling me a lot already :)
Is vendoring really going to help? Vendor or not, you need to review your deps’ code.
Go’s go.sum should already protect against malicious changes in upstream packages, no?

I agree with your sentiment. It’s sad that your (or my) website can’t respond with a X-This-Website-is-not-AI-Garbage header to indicate that “Hey user, you can actually just open this website and read it and get the infos you need without an AI assistant.”.
I’m pretty sure Firefox’s preflight request will also not load ads and so could be seen as a bad scraper.
Awesome! Now half the sites on the web contain a tiny drop of information, buried under paragraphs and paragraphs of GPT-generated text, and now my browser uses the same LLM to reverse engineer the original information. What could possibly go wrong the LLMs talk to other LLMs and summarize, bloat, summarize and then bloat and then finally summarize every bit of information for us.
Do we actually still make websites for humans, or is it all just AIs and SEO?
Have you tried setting browser.ml.chat.enabled to false in about:config? That immediately removes the chatbot from my sidebar.
Oh my god, FINALLY they seem to be getting the hint that Go’s CLI is abysmally bad. Go is such an amazing language, but golly, whoever perpetrated this CLI design should never be allowed to code a command line tool ever again.
I hope that they finally make the CLI better, but the cynical asshole in me can already see the outcome: Nothing will change, since the CLI is now “established” and they would “fear we break too many things”.
