521·2 months agoNope, against.
I don’t see why this rethoric would need any special rules versus any other arguments that may be made in bad faith. Trolling in general should be moderated, but the rules shouldn’t differ from topic to topic. If a discussion is good it is good, if it is bad it is bad. The topic and the view points are irrelevant to that.

Zed@programming.dev•We're Not Building AI Features for the Money
32·2 months agoI started using Zed as my daily IDE and I really like the direction they’re taking it. I know a lot of developers (especially here on Lemmy) have a dogmatic hatred for AI in code, and I get not wanting to be associated with vibe coding tech bros. But there is also a lot that AI can be really helpful for these days.
One of the reasons I switched away from Sublime Text was seeing my colleagues auto generate tests from a single prompt in their IDE while I was stuck copy+pasting code around. I’m glad Zed has that same lightweight approach while also supporting modern tooling.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Anthropic joins the Blender Development Fund as Corporate Patron
43·2 months agoI think the main counter argument to this is a practical one. Microsoft, Google, Amazon, all these greedy corporations have contributed to many open source projects and initiatives. Google has a strong influence in defining web standards, should we ditch web browsing? Amazon and even Microsoft have contributed to Linux either trough donations or direct contributions, both in the kernel and in foundational software that runs on top of it. Should we ditch using Linux servers?
What shows is that while money can corrupt it is not an inevitability. So instead of ditching Blender because Anthropic donates to it I’d suggest ditching Blender only if and when they start rolling out vendor-locked Antrophoc AI integrations rather than take a dogmatic ai company = bad stance.
