The lack of real buttons is hardly the problem with those vehicles. Maybe for some/many people but I find that argument excessively nit-picky. You can adjust temperature perfectly fine in a Tesla without looking. Not that I normally need to touch it at all.

2·4 months agoAh yes, the abstinence technique. Brilliant.
I for one like the ability to heat my home at night in the winter, not have it be >30°C inside in the summer (system has to catch up at night), keep my living space at a reasonable humidity, cook food, and use modern amenities without incurring a ridiculous cost.
There’s no other way to cut it. We will need more electrical capacity than today, not less.

Technology@lemmy.world•Solar generates more energy than coal in US for 1st timeEnglish
2·5 months agoMy state charges an EV tax at vehicle registration renewal that is substantially more than the tax that would be paid on gasoline. I’d have to drive around 5 times what I do before it starts getting close. There were talks of adding some other kind of tax too, beyond this, which would be double dipping. I’m the kind of person that would happily pay taxes although I find the execution of this poor since it is largely rooted in entrenched interests. Namely selling ethanol.
