In video of the shooting, after Alex is pepper sprayed and falls to his knees, you can see one of the thugs lift his shirt, revealing his holstered firearm to both him and the shooter. Both see it, and the shooter draws his weapon. Tan coat removes Alex’s gun from it’s holster in full view of the shooter and moves away with it, and then the shooter, knowing that Alex had already been pepper sprayed, physically restrained, and disarmed, murders him by shooting him at close range in the back.

Theoretically, a single operator controlled swarm could be used to all strike a hardened target at once, rather the current tactic we see in Ukraine of multiple drones which all have a dedicated operator being tied up striking an armored vehicle or hardened emplacement.

The ability to have one operator in control of the ability to strike a heavy target would come in mighty handy if you…say…have to eliminate a lot of prepared coastal defenses on an independence-minded island nation.

I absolutely believe it. The US has been working on directed energy crowd control tech since at least the early 2000s. There are tons of videos online of prototypes.

Mesh networks, however, are pretty safe. Triangulating the origin of a mesh transmission will just lead to the repeater node which, admittedly is a pain in the dick if they kill the repeater and the network goes dark, but it doesn’t lead directly back to a person, just a box they stuck on a cell tower or up on a hill somewhere.
