They can’t grant SWIFT access. And the governments who can are not inclined to do much that the UN asks.

However, the EU is considering connecting to SWIFT a subsidiary of Rosselkhozbank to allow specifically for grain and fertiliser transactions, three sources familiar with discussions told Reuters on Wednesday

One can’t help noticing that this is not the UN and it is not the full access implied by the post.

The UN is a joke… we kind of need it to exist, but pretty much a pointless organization right now and while most governments in the world are undemocratic.

The UN is successful in it primary role. It is a forum to keep people talking instead of having a nuclear war.

It’s definitely a forum and that’s it. And we do need it like I said. But whenever they pretend they’re anything else it gets awkward. Not up to the UN to give Rússia swift access.
