The KAI T-50 and the Boeing/Saab T-7 both use the same jet engine GE-404. How does the T-50 accomplish faster speed, more payload, all while being twice as heavy? - eviltoast

Yes I’m aware the KAI engine is a slight variation, but afaik it’s very slight.

    I can only speculate, but I would guess it’s a matter of the T-50 having a more efficient and aerodynamic aerofoil and fuselage that better facilitates a higher top speed. I don’t know the specifics of the T-50’s performance stats. Is it universally faster, or faster in a very specific flight regime?
