Seeing the decrease in the % of Outlast players who achieved basic game progress achievements, I find it amusing to think about those who chickened out mid-game and never returned. - eviltoast

Then I get back into the game with my heart pounding.
It’s my first time.

Not to ruin your fun but i think thats how most game achievement distrubtions look like. The further into the game the achievement, the less people will have played long enough to get it.

Yup. Was finally getting around to Pillars of Eternity a few weeks back and was very amused at the delta between finishing Act 3 and Act 4 (since Act 4 is like a fifteen minute dungeon). After Pathfinder Kingmaker I can’t necessarily fault anyone who said “I played this game for 40 hours and I just can’t anymore” but… yeah.

I also vaguely recall Outlast being part of a humble bundle or two? Not sure if just owning the game adds you to the Steam percentages but I am sure plenty of people started it for like two minutes and instantly noped out for whatever reason.

it doesnt include you till you launch the game I believe, thats when you switch from owning to have played status so the achievements turn colored instead of off

I don’t think so, checking other games, the first progress achievement has much higher percentage and the decrease is slower.

Edit: Some examples of what I say.

There were a few parts in Outlast that I nearly gave up on not because it was scary, but because it was annoying. The part with the scissor doctor was one - it was difficult, but not in a scary way, more in an annoying way. The biggest fear was having to slog through it again.

Maybe i just suck at the game lol

This is one of the rare steam purchases I regret. Horror games are not for me

I kinda like horror games. I just need some kind of mitigating factor. If it’s just me, the game, and all the spooky shit in it I have issues. Outlast was also not for me.
