EU imports record volumes of liquefied natural gas from Russia - eviltoast

“It’s shocking that countries in the EU have worked so hard to wean themselves off piped Russian fossil gas only to replace it with the shipped equivalent. It doesn’t matter if it comes from a pipeline or a boat — it still means European companies are sending billions to [Vladimir] Putin’s war chest.”

Sounds like it’s not just a Spain and Belgium problem, but all of the EU. Belgium says it uses less than 3% of the Russian LNG and the rest is sold to other countries like France and Germany.

Is it imported at below the price cap? I don’t think the EU banned all the gas, just not paying much for it to more effectively decrease the amount imported than just a ban.
