Snap! I was obsessed with making game intros like those from Final Fantasy V / VI. Must have made 5 or 6 epic openings and first fights but never shipped a thing.
I even built a calendar and time system for RPG Maker that enabled me to create a town where people went about their daily lives, went to work, drank at the tavern in the evenings, harvested the fields in autumn, celebrated holidays, crowned the new (yearly) queen, and more. Very cool and capable tool even though it was so simple to use.
I still mess around making prototypes in Unity for games I’ll never complete just for fun. It’s amazing how RPG Maker could spark passion for game development.
Oh my god. I was on that rm2k/2k3 hype train for so long. Never put out anything of value, or anything really, but I had so much fun doing it.
