Any drug interaction that I should be worried about?
It is never safe to take a psychedelic drug.
Cannabis is also psychedelic, even though it gets downplayed a looot. It is less psychedelic than other things, as it doesnt interact with your Serotonin receptors (which I would call “hooking in your core sense of wake consciousness”). But still.
Now DMT works differently. And may be harder on you.
Cannabis is not a good drug to relax if you are on a psychedelic. Your sober mind may find the effects relaxing, but it is still a drug that acts on your brain, and it is less “ideal” than your sober state, it is stress on the brain.
So if you are on a comedown or at the peak and can estimate the effect, you may be able to mix it. But please dont mix at the start.
You have one drug stressing your brain, and add another drug that probably doesnt overlap much but stresses other parts.
And of course, please respect set and setting, have a sober buddy with you that you 100% trust. Have water, space to walk, scream, cry, whatever.
People underestimate how much space they may need.
Thanks for your concern with my psychological state, but I’m just asking if there is metabolic a counter-indication like for mixing alcohol and opioids. Or the combo of warfarin and ibuprofen.
I dont think so, but I also dont think this is a question that makes sense in a forum, there should be research about this.
I agree. I found Psychedelic experience dose-dependently modulated by cannabis: results of a prospective online survey that mentions, “cannabis smoked together with ayahuasca during ceremonies of the Brazilian Santo Daime Church.” So I guess the combo is metabolically fine.
The effects potentiate each other, so you will be tripping much harder.
If you tolerate weed well otherwise, it can work out well. If you’re prone to paranoia, anxiety, and similar effects, this combination can great increase them.
Now that I’ve experimented with the combo, I would say that cannabis interferes with the profound impartiality of ayahuasca. I enjoy ayahuasca more without cannabis.
Thanks for coming back with your experience. Could you try and describe your experience in more detail?
“The effects potentiate each other, so you will be tripping much harder.” – This is not how I experienced it. To me, the effects of each substance are pretty orthogonal. The combination is not multiplicative or even additive. It’s more like being on two separate substances that affect different aspects of experience. However, the cannabis made me less able to adapt as the force of the ayahuasca got stronger.
the cannabis made me less able to adapt
Could you elaborate? What effects? And what do you mean by adapt?
I use ayahuasca in the context of the Santo Daime. Part of the Santo Daime aesthetic is to behave as if you are sober. That’s what I mean by adapt.
That makes sense.
