After coming to his senses, the young man tried to hang on to the jet. A gesture which earned him to be propelled several meters high before falling on the slab.

Or a concussion/disorientation after the first time.
Or a very weird choice of attempted suicide.
Ah, I read that as part of the same incident. I see now what was meant by twice - not really a repeat offender.
