And, it’s incredibly painful the whole time you’re dying.

Yeah, getting burns on 40% of your body will pretty much always be fatal via infection. The only exception would be if you were in a specialised burn ward that is equipped for this kind of situation but how fast would you get there from a battlefield?

He won’t be able to move around as well anymore, and if he tries to go back small arms fire or a drone will get him, and if he tries to go forward and surrender then the likelihood of him getting top tier medical care when his side was probably the side that damaged and busy-ified the hospital, is pretty fuckin low down on the list
