Hello everyone,
As you may have noticed, our current single mod has been inactive for a while, and the description still mentions a wiki we currently don’t have.
Would anyone be interested into moderating this community? I’m currently quite busy with a few others so I would rather not volunteer for this one.
Due to the low level of posts, the reports are probably limited, so the task should not take more than a few minutes per week.
Once we’ll identify someone, we can use the !community_requests@lemmy.ml to request it
My financial knowledge is pretty bad, but I login to Lemmy every day, so I could give a shot moderating reports.
That would be nice!
You don’t need financial knowledge to mod a sub, you just need to be fair in enforcing a set of rules (civility, off topic posts, etc). And yeah, most will likely just be people reporting stuff that you’d need to respond to.
I try to report as much as I can, but I’m not interested in being a mod because I’m lazy and will probably never look at the reports. I’m happy to generate content because that only requires occasional effort.
ok, i added you as a mod, although the existing mod @WandererLagomorph799@lemmy.ml is not entirely inactive - they posted 7 days ago.
now you get to decide about the offtopicness of this landlord thread (posted by the same OP as this thread) which is currently the most active thread here :)
(it has been getting many reports for being offtopic, which i’ve ignored because there was a pretty active discussion by the time i saw the first report.)
Thanks! Haha I’m gonna follow your decision and let it stay, but I’m already nervous for the future reports.
Congratulations! Seems like @pdxfed@lemmy.world is willing to help, you might want to discuss with them.
From my short mod experience, it’s nice to have people to discuss moderation decisions with
So, slight hiccup, I’m not showing as a mod on my instance. The sync issues are supposed to be fixed with 18.4, but it’s still not syncing my moderator status. @pdxfed@lemmy.world has said they would retry after the next version upgrade. Or it might automatically sync after a few days.
I had the same issue on one of my communities. Not a big deal for me, but if it’s an issue for you, you can always create an alt on LW and use it to moderate
I already have a LW alt, but I hardly ever use it. Wth I’ll dust it off for at least a temporary measure, thanks for the suggestion.
You are welcome!
Thank you!
Could you please open a thread in !community_requests@lemmy.ml explaining why you would like the become the moderator?
Created a post https://programming.dev/post/2010603 (not sure how to get a link for your instance). Please feel free to add your comments.
Great, thank you!
I’d be happy to, but unfortunately there really aren’t any tools to moderate across instances on kbin… I already tried it with lemmy.world/c/rct.
That’s sad indeed, hopefully we’ll get such tools soon
New to Lemmy and still waiting for my preferred app to be available which will help my availability and use but am passionate about the topic and work well in applying frameworks objectively.
Good to know!
I really prefer not to, but I am only likely to be active enough that I could do basic things like update the sidebar or whatever.
So I guess consider me as a backup option if nobody steps up in the next few days. I’m technically a mod on a couple other communities, but I’m incredibly inactive. I’m fair, but extremely lazy, so I’ll probably only step in if specifically requested.
I could help out with moderation, but I don’t know enough about Lemmy to be a head mod.
I’m interested in PF and would like to see this community grow.
Hi, was busy a good while for a lot of things, so didn’t see the request for posting here till later sadly. But excellent to see this here, good to see things slowly building up :).
