These numbers also highlight why propaganda and gerrymandering work so well to keep the status quo quo-ing.

This hits home quite a lot today. I am pregnant from a blighted ovum (embryo has not developed, but the amniotic sac it is supposed to be in did develop), for the second time. Today that was confirmed with an ultrasound (they already did one last week).

Last time I waited for the miscarriage to happen naturally (on the advise of a doctor) and that took months and then I gave up and got an abortion (pills and surgery). I can tell you being and feeling pregnant while knowing you will not have a baby is a horrible feeling. So, this time I told the new doctor that I did not want to do it again and that was fine. Within 15 minutes after the appointment I had the abortion pills in my bag and was on my way home and able to use them when I want.

It is a shitty situation I am in and taking these pills is not fun. I got quite ill last time. But the fact that I can get them so easily in this situation does make it better. I can take them and in a couple of days I will feel better and can process things. I do not need to wait for months carrying an non-vital pregnancy.

I feel so bad for the women who are in the same, and often much worse situations as me and that do not have access to abortion anymore. I really hope this will change and also the attitude towards abortion will change. I do not judge women who get it for non-medical reasons. They should be able to also. But besides that, it is a normal medical procedure that is sometimes life-saving and often just helps to make a horrible situation more bearable. I feel like people sometimes forget that part.

I’m so sorry that you’re going through all this, but really appreciate you sharing your perspective. I hope that it reaches people that need to hear it, and mostly I hope that you’re okay, or at least that you will be soon.

Thank you. I think this is a reason for abortion that happens quite often. I really hope that it helps if I share it.

I think I will be okay. I am very sad as I really wanted a baby and I am not sure whether I can have them as I have fertility issues. However, last time the sadness got less over time, fortunately. It is still a bad memory, but it is not constantly in my mind anymore. I think this time the same will happen.

Unfortunately having more choices doesn’t necessarily mean people get any smarter. In Finland we have about 20-ish registered political parties (in a country of 5 million) and we now have a far right government that lied its way into power, gutted our welfare system, destroyed public healthcare, significantly weakened worker protection from getting fired spuriously, made political strikes illegal to stop people protesting them, and has multiple literal neo-Nazis in it.

Do you guys think you’re suffering from an external propaganda force as well? I’ll put my tin foil hat on for this, but It really seems like all this extreme right wing bullshit spreading around the “western world” is happening to destabilize countries as an act of “information warfare.”

Or it’s the usual grifters gotta grift and we keep falling for greedy assholes that want easy money and political power. :(

We’re fairly conservative compared to the rest of the Nordics, so it’s probably just a case of Finns being complete fucking imbeciles as per usual. It’s even been a running joke here that Russia doesn’t have to do anything to us, we’re perfectly capable of fucking up the country ourselves.

And it’s not likely to get any better either. The under-25’s are more conservative than millennials or even Gen X

Wait, 5 million people had 20 different choices, and y’all picked the nazis? How the fuck did that happen?

My point is that Americas system is fucked, and has been for a while.

Idk if any country right now has a foolproof system, or if that even exists in this word, but what we are doing isn’t working.

Too many Nazis here, and I’m not being facetious.

The best (“best”) part is that one minister essentially had to resign because he’s a Nazi, so the extremist right wing party (well, one of them…) replaced him with a pedophile Nazi. Somehow he hasn’t been forced to resign. I guess part of it is that he’s more “smart” about his Nazism and doesn’t do it as openly as the other dude, and reich-wingers say that he’s not a pedophile because he didn’t get convicted, but that’s only because cops couldn’t (or, more likely, wouldn’t) prove anything except that he had asked eg. teenagers out on dates, called them sexy etc etc but none of that is illegal.

Honestly this country is incredibly fucked up and in case anybody was planning to visit I recommend staying the fuck away, there’s better vacation spots with fewer Nazis.

But yeah, I don’t think any system of government will work. Humans are just way too shitty on average

Well if there were more choices, maybe the people that actually give a fuck would vote someone besides red or blue into power.

        Oh wait…

The system is fucked. Let me know when they come up with one that is an actual reflection of what people want, not this electoral college, gerrymandering bullshit. Oh and one that doesn’t allow legal insider trading, superpacs, lobbying and spending and unmeasurable sum of money on alien recovery projects, Mk ultra, remote viewing and all of the other things they spend tax payers money on.

How about we just take money out of politics?

        Get real.

Besides all of that, if we had a system that actually went off popular vote, maybe the people that come up with backasswards laws like this wouldn’t have been in power in the first place.
