Reviving the beloved Mass Effect series - again! - may be a tough mission, but the veteran crew behind the upcoming Mass Effect 5 know a little something about assembling a squad to take on impossible odds.

Writing on social media platform X this week, Mass Effect 5 executive producer Mike Gamble highlighted some of the upcoming project’s experienced leadership when responding to a fan who questioned whether anyone on the game had worked on the original Mass Effect trilogy.

“EP, Art Director, Creative Director, Game Director are all trilogy vets,” was Gamble’s response.

Is Dreadwolf a mess? They’ve shown almost nothing of it and I don’t recall any negative reactions to what they have shown. You have any links? I’m interested to see because I like that franchise as well.

I think this is a decent summary, with some of the negative news I remember tucked away all the way at the bottom. So unlike I thought it will not be live service, and will be single player, very happy with that, but the fact that multiple big names with important roles left the last couple of years does not spark any hope for me. Also, it’s supposed to be a GoW 2018 type of combat system, which to me sounds like they’re chasing a trend and not continuing with the more tactical rpg gameplay I loved about the first game. Lastly, the fact that it’s supposed to release this year but we haven’t really seen any real gameplay is kinda sus imo.

So again, I’m willing to be surprised, but just don’t expect anything decent from it.

Interesting read. I’ll remain hopefully skeptical of it. I loved the tactical play of DAO but if they manage to pull it off right and balance the RPG/team aspects properly the more action style of God Of War could work. Now if they remove the RPG/team tactics all together it would have to be an amazing game not to fail immediately. It is suspicious that they haven’t shown anything if it’s coming out this year. I feel like it probably won’t be out this year and we’ll just get a look at it. Either way, I hope they don’t fuck it because I loved the first game and enjoyed the two others.
