If on Android, AdGuard is a system wide adblocker which works amazingly well. No root needed, a bit pricy for a lifetime license, but 100% worth it imo
That’s a pretty sweet combo, but yeah, adguard will take care of banner ads in apps too. There is a free trial for 1 or 2 weeks, other than that I think they have a monthly license, or a lifetime for around 100$. It’s quite a bit for an app but considering what it does, I do not regret at all. You can use it on multiple devices too. At the very least I would recommend the trial to see if it’s worth it for you

Sometimes I can’t access sites when it’s running.
You can turn it on/off per site.
I just don’t bother with those sites, ads are a security threat.
