[Fewture request] in app system browser - eviltoast

Sorry is this has been mentioned before.

I’d love to be able to have my system browser of choice be used while I am still in the app. It’s terribly annoying clicking on a link and leaving Memmy to view it.

As an aside, I love y’all’s app and appreciate you. Keep us posted on when you add your tip jar, eh?

Yes I’m aware of this. But it doesn’t use my system browser. It’s using Safari which is not my default browser on my iPhone.

Apollo had it so that when you selected, Use Default Browser, I never left Apollo. It would be nice if that also was a feature of Memmy.

    iPhone Settings > Safari > Default Browser > [Preferred Browser].Its not a Memmy thing, its a system-choice.

    Should work for ya

Edit: Oh, you mean like “in-app”. I thought in-app was ALWAYS Safari but I sort of remember being able to use alternative browsers in Apollo, although I feel like it was out-app rather than in. Hmmm

Edit: I think its a good practice to not view things in-app if privacy is a concern. I don’t think its an issue with Memmy but there was a lot of hackles raised (rightfully so) that many apps like Facebook were abusing in-app browsing where people didn’t expect to be tracked/datamined, especially if logging into personal accounts etc.

Ha, yes! What your first edit says. That’s what I mean.

But you make a good point on your second edit. I never felt it was an issue with Apollo. But then again, you are right, I wouldn’t have know if it was an issue with tracking.

I use Brave as my default browser (yes I’m aware I should be switching to Firefox) so it’s nice to browse within Brave’s browser on Memmy rather than Safari.
