I recently bought a refurbished HP EliteDesk mini to act as a server in my homelab. It, unfortunately, only has 1 Ethernet port. Does anyone have any experience in adding another Ethernet port to this system? It has 3 Display ports, which I definitely don’t need, so space-wise I was thinking of replacing a couple of them, but I’m not familiar with the process.
Any advice? Is this even doable?
No
You could use dongles for usb to Ethernet, seems to have plenty of USB 3
Yeah looking like that’s what I’ll have to do, I just hate having dongles all over the place
Um… I don’t think doable without replacing the motherboard or something like that. I suggest buying a switch like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A128S24?ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_RRJ24QWGFXDMFN94CEQT_1 which is what I did for my server. Works well and is pretty small.
Assuming you have a model with one of the displayports on a daughterboard, then there may be a compatable replacement.

Disclaimer: I have not tried this.
This looks interesting and promising, thanks!
