Walkie talkie. Do you use it? - eviltoast

I’ve tried it with my SO during a visit to IKEA. So when we were apart for a few minutes I was able to give an update where I am or what was interesting so look at. But in public I found it rather awkward others listening to our conversation. And now I can’t think of other use cases. So how, when, where and with whom do you use this function?

Tried it when it first launched. Haven’t used it since. Feels extra dumb holding your Watch to your mouth like you’re Inspector Gadget. Just use your phone. I also never use Siri in public and I think people who walk around in public using their phone exclusively in speakerphone mode should be shot.

I get where you’re comming from, but just as a side note: Unless it’s really noisy around you, there’s no ned to have the watch that close to your mouth. ;-)

We use it to communicate when we don’t feel like texting. Or while the other is driving.

Very rarely do we use it in the store… it’s just awkward.

I’ve used it a couple times, but no. I usually forget it exists unless we have a specific reason to be using it. Like being in a crowd (I’m quite short and lose people very easily, and it’s quicker than texting).

It might be ok to use in my car but since I have the phone paired to the car, it doesn’t register anything from the watch. So I’d have to turn that off first and meh.

I can’t even use walking talkie correctly. The app lags, so it cuts out the first half of the audio. And I mean a good 1-2 sentences before it even starts.

When I try to press the button to respond myself, it lags so bad I can’t even record myself for about 6-8 seconds while I wait for the UI lag to catch up.

I don’t think this is a normal experience, but it’s mine.
