A script for asking Republican Senators to stop KOSA (US Politics) - eviltoast

The horrible Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) is once again moving forward in Congress, so now’s a key time to contact your Senators and Representative. https://stopkosa.com has a summary of why this bill is so bad, including its harmfulness on LGBTQ+ youth, as well as a form to contact your Senators. But Republicans are just fine with bills that are harmful to LGBTQ+ youth, so they may well see that as a good thing!

Here’s an alternate script designed for Republicans legislators. You can use it to call – for a phone call or email – from jamie quinn on Bluesky (shared with permission).

You can call the Senate switchboard at United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Or, use EFF’s page.

This is very smart. You’ll never win over Republicans by asking them to be good people, but getting them to choose between a law they want and protecting the 2nd amendment is a very tough trap to put them in.

…but you can manipulate through emotion, and the 2nd amendment is a touchstone for a lot of people.

You are going to be sadly disappointed when you realize these folks are inoculated against any such ability to correlate reality to the individual issues they’ve been told to support. Look at “Religious Freedom” the fools still don’t understand that if they get to push theirs by Gov. action so does The Satanic Temple. They are stunned that if you can ban books for sexuality that includes the Bible. These folks are not in any way able to understand the nuance you are proposing.
