While abortion was not directly on the special election ballot, the result marks the latest setback for Republicans in a conservative-leaning state who favor imposing tough restrictions on the procedure.
I live in the opposite kind of area in the state, but from what I’ve seen/heard/read, it didn’t seem like as many people we’re energized about voting yes. But also in general for people that might have been more on the fence, people tend to shy against change and for the status quo… which may have contributed to some of the no vote as well.
