Norway just gave permission to a mining company to dump their waste into the Førde fjord. What can I do about this? - eviltoast

Two days ago, there was a post over at /c/WorldNews that linked an article from the Guardian about Norway granting permission to private mining company Nordic Mining to dispose of their waste into the Førde fjord. I left a comment asking how can I, an American with no power what so ever, do to stop this. As of writing this, I still haven’t gotten a response. I might contact the head of Naturvernforbundet. If there’s a better approach please suggest it. Thanks in advance.

    from the article:

The court ordered Friends of the Earth Norway and Nature and Youth, the two environmental organisations who brought the case, to pay legal costs of about £110,000. They could still take the case to the court of appeal, but say their resources are currently too diminished to continue the fight, though they are hoping for external support.

Giving them money is probably your best bet

I didn’t at first read that you’re an American, and was gonna post an answer assuming you’re in Norway. Unfortunately this advice won’t help anymore, but I’ll post it anyway in case some Norwegians are around.

Try direct action. Unfortunately it might not work in the long run, but even stalling the company could cost them big money.

Remember that violence is the monopoly of the state and there’s a reason they don’t want others to utilise it.

Førde is a weird place. I went through there on the bus a number of years ago. It’s like paradise in the Norwegian hills with a section of industrial disaster happening right in the middle. Troubling, and not recommended.
