My System76 Lemur Pro Arrived! My very first ground up Linux system. - eviltoast

I’m incredibly excited to have this new machine. I’ve been waiting since I ordered on Dec.29th after returning several other computers due to compatibility issues. This laptop works like a dream.

Lemur Pro i7 1355U 40GB DDR5 1TB PCIE4 Pop!_OS 256GB PCIE3 Windows 11 1080p 60hz Display HDMI 2.1 Thunderbolt 4

It’s so light and sleek I love it! I can’t believe how thin and light this thing is. The case is simple and beautiful as well. Ports galore for an ultra portable. Pop!_OS was preinstalled, and installing Windows to the m.2 drive I threw in when I got it was a breeze. The drivers and full spec/repair database they provide is such a breath of fresh air from the horrible service you get from companies like Dell.

If I had to complain I wish they had used easy access bottom panel ports so you don’t have unscrew all 12 screws to access things like RAM and m2 slots. The “System 76” logo on the front is decal’d on instead of being a more seamless graphic like you’d find from major brands.

Minor gripes. I love this thing. It’s fast, light, quiet, and the battery life is nuts.

Looking at laptops right now, that thing would be the obvious choice for me if it had either an oled display or ethernet on top of that battery…

I prefer 1080p 60hz laptop displays. Much lighter on the battery. I plug it into an external 120hz HDR 4k display when I need the crispiness or extra workflow.

The Ethernet issue is corrected by my docking station.

1080p 60 is fine, but if I have to go back to the dongle life for ethernet I at least want the extra battery life oled would give me as a consolation prize. Good to hear you’re happy with it though

I hear OLED is worse for the battery, or was that specific to the Thinkpad X1C10?
