After 10 years in the same company doing (helpdesk/desktop support role) , I was offered a position as an AV specialist, which is a ladder movement from my previous roles of helpdesk and desktop support.

The job entails working with vendors for installation of Crestron, Brightsign, Muxlabs, PA systems, wireless and wired mics, and boardroom setups with displays.

It also involves supporting VIP users and training desktop teams and end users on the use of equipment.

I am uncertain if I have made the right choice as I do not have any experience in AV and have never worked with displays, Crestron, or MTR Team rooms. However, I am pleased to have the opportunity to move away from helpdesk calls.

I don’t do any of installation and going up ladder, but I do have to work with contractors.

AV specialist is still in IT field.

It is extra $5-10k a year more than when I used to make before.
