A few of us from here set up a book club back in January as we found that book clubs in Newcastle were generally oversubscribed and/or run and dominated by women, which can be quite daunting for men trying to get involved in a club that has historically been for women.

There’s about 7 of us who meet up once a month(ish), usually in a city centre pub, to discuss a book that’s been selected by a very loose voting system, with an attempt at reading a mixture of genres, from the existentialist L’Etranger to the hyper-violent Blood Meridian.

We’ve had a hiatus for August but did read Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams) and will be sticking with the sci-fi theme for our September meet, where we’ll also discuss Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep (Philip K Dick).

If anyone fancies joining for our September meeting or wants to know any more info then please drop me a DM or comment. We’d love to see some new faces!
