Good afternoon everyone.

I just began installing the first of 6 G4 cameras. I’m running a dream machine pro SE and a ubiquiti NVR.

When I plug the camera in, it appears in the network app within the UDM and obtains an IP. But, when I click on the camera and select “view in protect”, I get “protect offline” because I don’t have protect installed on the UDM. If I go to the NVR and open the protect app on the NVR, the camera is there and works properly and I can see the feed.

Why doesn’t the “view in protect” selection in the UDM open the protect on the NVR? Do they not communicate with each other?

Some background. I installed Protect on the UDM initially but it kept telling me I didn’t have enough storage to record continuously and that I had 0 HDD storage. I realized it was referring to the UDM external storage which I have none. When installed protect on the NVR and adopted the G4 to the NVR, it sees the two 8tb drives and all is good.

Did I screw up something along the way and that’s why the “view in protect” on the UDM points to the wrong device? Or is protect only supposed to be installed on the NVR? If so, why does the camera and the NVR appear in the UDM network app but then direct to the wrong place?

Thank you all!
