Hi. I need help from you experienced networking people. Hope this is the right group to ask this.

I’ve been planning to change all the ethernet cables in my house since they’re quite worn out.

I’m subscribing a 2Gbps Internet from my provider. Currently using CAT6 cables around the households. Also using a Wi-Fi 6 router.

Planning to change all of them to CAT8 cables.

Even though I subscribed to a 2Gbps plan, the highest speed I was ever able to capture was around 1.6Gbps with the ethernet. With latency averaging around 5ms-10ms. And around 1.3Gbps through Wi-Fi. (Speedtest.net)

The question here is:

If I change all the ethernet cables (including the one from the modem to router), will I see any changes in the internet speed (both wired & wireless)? Will the connection be more stable? Will it do any harm? Will it effect anything at all?

I’ve been googling for quite some time, but still can’t really confirm my understanding towards the matter between frequency, etc.

Thank you in advance all of your awesome lads.
