I’m at my wits end and ISP has been 0 help for the last 2 years. I rarely get above 500 Mbps on a wired connection but I know I can hit 900+ with the equipment/plan I have.
Here’s the details:
- Astound (RCN) 1Gig cable plan in Chicago Suburbs
- C7000v2 Gateway
- Using Cat6 for wired connections
- Often getting under 10Mbps vanilla, which will go up to 20-60 Mbps on through VPN
I’ve tried different modem/router options with not much improvement, but open to trying again if my gateway seems like the issue. I’ve had technicians come out multiple times and they just say it’s the gateway, but that doesn’t explain why I’m getting 1% of the speeds I’m paying for.
Is this a hardware issue? Throttling? Maybe a bad cable connection? Any ideas on other things I can troubleshoot?
