I’m considering installing a Final Fantasy X mod that requires I install the 2015 C++ package via protontricks.
I’m not really familiar with what this does, so I have a few questions.
- When I select FFX in the protontricks menu, does this mean that the C++ files get installed in the FFX “container”? I’ve never really messed with WINE directly, but from what I understand, each game gets its own wine-prefix to isolate it. So I’m guessing the protontricks stuff gets installed in that prefix?
- Forgive my ignorance, but are the games on steam deck all self-contained with their own windows filesystem? Or is the protontricks installing this C++ globally for all games that use the same Proton version that FFX uses?
- Is this download doing anything on the host/linux filesystem that could remain after I uninstall FFX?
