Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan, has long been a vocal ally to transgender people. In the 2026 midterms, he has not wavered in that support, despite the hundreds of millions of dollars in attack ads, much of which has been focused on transgender people, that have poured into this year’s elections from the Republican Party and, even at times, from the Democratic Party as well. Rather than capitulate to those ads, as some Democrats have done, El-Sayed has defended transgender people outright, on sports, on education and on health care. That was certainly true in his 60 Minutes interview released Sunday, in which Ross Douthat, the conservative columnist Bari Weiss brought to the program this summer, pressed him multiple times on his support for transgender people.
Fun fact: he’s born in Michigan.
He can be president.
Let’s get him in the senate first

Alright. We got him in the senate.
I was a bit concerned last night when I went to bed because it didn’t look like he was going to carry metro Detroit.
Now he needs to grab all his new friends by the ear and get some shit done
“Arab name = bad man!”
It’s just blatant racism at this point. I support this man, even though I don’t live in Michigan.
It was always blatant racism. This is a country where every few years after 9/11, someone gets outraged that their kids are getting taught Arabic Numerals in school.

Lmao

Its early but starting well
I just went to the rest of the AP election and its not looking very good for the republicans
For all his faults the fact he actually stands up for trans girls in sports is really fucking cool. Even some of the best candidates on trans rights tend to waffle on, or avoid that one.
What are his faults, exactly?
I am going to answer with a question of my own: Is anyone without fault? For one he declared himself a staunch capitalist.
I assume no ones perfect but “for all his faults” implies there’s a bunch of them and I could guess from the get go that he was a capitalist.
its not like ellison on owned network is going to be fair to him.
