How about that. There's no cameras in the upper west Side.

Sometimes the rich people want them. There’s one Flock camera at the entrance of a nearby rich neighborhood aimed into it to catch cars entering or exiting. All the others in the county are next to county property or along roads with high traffic.

My area used to have a Flock camera pointing down a short dead end road. I wondered who lived on that road that it needed its own alpr but then one day the camera was turned to face the arterial.

Thankfully my city got rid of Flock.

I only got 2 in my town, and they are next to the richest area. I have a feeling they were requested.

Rich people are boot lockers who never think they’ll be the ones targeted.

Lot of rich white neighborhoods. Not a lot of places where over 1/3 of the population is Jewish.

Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) are AI-powered cameras that capture and analyze images of all passing vehicles, storing details like your car’s location, date, and time. They also capture your car’s make, model, color, and identifying features such as dents, roof racks, and bumper stickers, often turning these into searchable data points. These cameras collect data on millions of vehicles—regardless of whether the driver is suspected of a crime. While these systems can be useful for tracking stolen cars or wanted individuals, they are mostly used to track the movements of innocent people.
