While research on children’s screen use is growing, most of it has focused on how a child’s behavior and temperament influence how much time they spend on screens.

Yet far less attention has gone to parents’ role in children’s media use.

In 2024, the U.S. surgeon general identified parenting stress as a public health concern.

Researchers, clinicians and policymakers were called to action to better understand parents’ needs, with the goal of supporting them in raising children and maintaining a healthy family.

It literally isn’t though. It’s a study about why parents tend to give their kids screen time. Unless I’m missing something in there that claims doing so is child abuse, you’re jumping to a conclusion and seeing what you want to see.

I’d also suggest taking a breath and leaving the thread, because you’re obviously extremely sensitive to screen time use, and are lashing out in an extremely unhealthy way. Not to mention you’re being a dick.

And yes, I’m also being a dick. I’m not above a little hypocrisy to prove a point.

Parents who can’t take care of themselves add kids to the mix and the kids suffer as a result. The article is about parents failing to care properly for their children because the parents are overwhelmed.

It is a sensitive subject. The sooner minds change, the more suffering can be avoided.
