sim card not being read - possibility of water damage - eviltoast

earlier today i dropped my phone in the toilet and it wasn’t in there for that long (maybe 10 seconds at the max). i dried it off the best i could since i was at school and tried charging it an hour or two later, but wasn’t able to because there was a pop up that said it detected water. my tech support knowledge is lacking so i put my phone in rice for 2 hours and it charged. the main problem i’m having now is that my phone won’t read the sim card. i took it out and reinserted it and the phone read it before giving me a pop up that said that there was no sim card in my phone even though i had just put it in. what should i do? i was thinking about getting a new sim card replacement but if there’s water damage is it even worth it?

(edit - i have the iphone 11 btw)

Open the sim tray and see the rubber if its there and if it is if its in good condition. If its not say good bye to your card reader. Otherwise try restarting your iphone and try again.
