Disappointing to be sure. Congrats to those countries standing up to genocide.

Can anyone point to an article or anything as to why those remaining 20 would vote no?

Isreal spy firms did some public hacking/leaking/extorting at least in Italy and Slovenia, as well as targeting some European Commission officials in order to influence stuff (that I remember the headlines from). I’m sure these are broader & regular activities.

the epstein files shows a SIGNIFICANTLY broader effort that was so regular that they literally bought an island to evade legal jurisdictions and created their first baby farm in new mexico to streamline it all.

I’m shocked that the current government of my homeland - Portugal - has, finally, chosen not to side with the baddies.

Considering all the pro-Zionist shit they’ve been doing over the years and the pro-Israel Consent Manufacturing shit of the TV channel aligned with them, this is quite unexpected.

By the way, time for one or more of the countries in the side of good to start using the cannon of “veto” against the interests of the pro-Genocide countries. Certainly Germany and Italy will only ever adjust their positions in this if they get seriously fucked up at the EU level by other countries vetoing anything that mainly benefits them (and there are quite a lot of Trade measures that pretty much only help Germany).

PS: Italy and Germany are pretty much Orban’s Hungary when it comes to this specific violent and genocidal nation (as Orban’s Hungary itself was, since the both supported Russia and Israel) and should get a similar treatment from the rest as Hungary did back when Orban was in power and showed the true colors of those in power there.

Most European countries follow the Zionist playbook to defer any sanctions against Israel to EU wide voting and not implementing any national wide sanctions. Then the EU sanctions always get blocked and so nothing happens against Israel.

If necessary Portugal and others would join the rotating villain cast like Italy did this time and vote against sanctioning Israel. But now they can pretend “their hands were tied”

That is indeed a valid possibility and one I wouldn’t put pass the current assholes in government as over the years in Portugal too politics has become a lot more that kind of sleazy and manipulative purposeful theater and misrepresentation.

Unlike in Spain were the leftmost party of the two major ones (I wouldn’t say that in the present day after 4 decades of Neoliberalism they are for sure left of center, but they’re definitely to the left of the other one), in Portugal it’s the rightmost one that’s in power and they have a long tradition of being “Atlanticist” (i.e. of kissing American ass, a lot, the full works with tongue included) plus from my experience living in several countries in Europe, Portuguese politicians are the country bumpkings of European politicians and pretty subservient to and easily awed by big countries, so bending over to countries like America and Germany is their natural behavior.
