Temperature Question: Would it be a bad idea to place my new NAS in the HVAC room in the basement? When the furnace is on the room climbs to 30-35°C (86°F). - eviltoast

It’s a new 2bay desktop TS-264. QNAP’s recommended operating temp is 0-40°C (32-104°F).

Am I taking a risk running close to 40°C; it could get that high if furnace runs for a long time. Are the temp swings a problem (it’s generally cooler than the rest of the house down there when furnace is off).

Any advice, tips, experiences please?

I’d consider insulating the ductwork and doing air sealing if it gets that hot, as it means lot of your heat is not making it where it should so your hvac is probably running more than it needs to.
