      Nope, it’s active all the time, and likes to go off if I reach down to pick something up too quickly at work

        Nope this is false, you can turn it off or even set it to on during workouts.

        Open the Apple Watch App, go to Emergency SOS, and then you can toggle it from there.

        You can turn it off though, I’ve got mine set so fall detection is on while doing a workout.

      Mine is on all the time. I’ve had it go off several times when I’ve been hot at work!

      I thought fall detection was only on by default if the wearer is over a certain age like 65.

        I think there are two types of detection. Fall detection and risk of falling alerts. I have the fall detection only turned on while in a workout. I have the 2nd gen SE. You can also turn it off completely.
