My dude, you’re using it inside out. The excess you want to cut off tucks in below the rest of the strap, against your wrist. Disconnect both parts of the band from the watch, turn them over and reconnect them, then you’ll see.
I do this often with my shirt… always wondered why people look at me funny…. Thanks!
