Titanic (1997) has been upgraded to 4K on iTunes with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio - eviltoast

If you had it purchased through iTunes in the past, it should be upgraded for free.

If you had a standard definition iTunes digital copy of Titanic and re-purchased it to upgrade to HD (and later 4K), is your purchased copy playing in 4K HDR? Mine only does if I play directly from my movie library on my Apple TV 4K. (And that was only after I deleted and un-deleted it from my library using the Apple TV app on my Mac.) If I perform a Siri search on my Apple TV 4K, the result it finds plays in what seems to be below 480p resolution but it is in HDR.

If anyone who did the same with this movie can try checking and see what results you get trying to play it back both ways, I’d like to know. One more thing, my Apple TV is on the latest Public Beta.

I only had the SD digital copy and mine is now showing 4K, so it looks like everyone got the upgrade.

Same thing happened with the Lord of the Rings when they released the 4K edition a few years ago. It was such a nice surprise when it quietly upgraded to the new version.

Did you actually try playing it? I redeemed the Bluray digital code years ago, which was only SD at the time. It’s showing under 4K in the TV app, and has the 4K badge in the Movies app, but playback is definitely not 4K.

In the iTunes Store, it’s asking me to buy it for $7.99 in HD/4K, but if I click “available in SD” that version has the cloud download icon.
