What non native apps do you use and why? - eviltoast

I’ve been a iPhone user for ages and tried lots of different apps to replace the native iOS apps. As a casual user though I keep coming back to the native apps because they just work across all my devices. So I guess I’m curious what everyone uses instead from a casual point of view

I’ve used Fantastical for years. The built in calendar app is fine, but not flexible enough for my needs.

    Overcast for podcasts.

Firefox, to sync with my other devices. None of them are Apple, so Safari doesn’t make sense for me.

WhatsApp, Gmail, Maps and Google Calendar

WhatsApp is used by 100% of my contacts and Apple Maps are totally inaccurate in my area.

I can’t stand native Mail and Calendar apps, I’m sorry

Gmail and calendar for work and personal use. Chrome because i have saved passwords there from my previous android phone. Google Translate, maps, keep because they are better imo. Google Photos because i sync photos through my personal gmail account and have lots of photos in the cloud from the past 5 years or so.

I use very few native apps. Specifically, Mail and Photos and that’s it. I use Chrome, Google Maps, Waze,Google Keep, Google Kalendar, Google Tasks, Google Home,Spotify…I change devices often, I use many different platforms, I can’t imagine being locked in one single ecosystem with all my apps and services.

I use chrome because I hate safari. It also then links with chrome on my computer.

I also use gmail, this is because when we switched internet providers they cancelled my email address and I lost everything and gmail was good and I still do like it.

Stocard for my rewards cards instead of wallet.

Waze for GPS but I have been using Apple Maps because I like the “at the next stop light turn right” which is very helpful when I don’t know the area.

    Spotify for music.

Libby for books so I can borrow and not buy.

Accuweather, 2FAS for authentication, I tried switching from Mail, but iCloud has privacy features that far ahead of gmail so I dumped gmail but I have a Google Account. I use Parcel for package tracking and Calzy for calculator which eons ahead of what Apple calls a calculator.
