What are some of the best purchases of your life? - eviltoast

For me it has to be:

  1. Helix mattress ($1,217). Sleep is great.
  2. Home gym power cage & weights (~$1,000). Look good, feel good, get strong.
  3. Netgear Nighthawk AXE7800 ($339). No more random, annoying internet disconnects/slowness.
  4. Books ($0 @ library)
    • “Ultralearning” - Scott Young (how to learn efficiently)
    • “Enlightenment Now” - Steven Pinker (the world overall is improving)
    • “The Bogleheads’ Guide to Investing” - Taylor Larimore (how to invest)
  5. PS5 ($500). So many great games like witcher 3, god of war, spiderman.

I’m searching for some more deep value purchases. Give me what you’ve got.

    Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless

I never owned “expensive” Headphones so buying these improved my enjoyment of listening to music so much.

Also if you’re working at home and don’t mind wired headphones, the MDR-7506 from Sony’s are considered to be industry standard studio headphones and are among the cheapest in the industry. They’re sorta fragile, so you need to take good care of them, but I’ve watched music documentaries and seen these headphones in studios with people like Rick Rubin among others, as well as on numerous film sets.

I bought Sennheiser HD497s about 20 years ago. I still use them daily. I can get replacement cables for a few bucks when they break.

I reckon I’ll get another 20 years out of them. It was $15 for an adapter to get it working with my latest phone.
