Thoughts on Google's Nest Router for $111? - eviltoast

I currently have a $50 Linksys router (with the WiFi disabled) with an older Ubiquity WAP.

I’d like two WAP’s in my home for better coverage. I use a lot of google stuff, and this seems like a pretty good deal? Or not?

Since you’ve got a ubiquiti wap, maybe the UDR or UDM? Inbuilt wifi, which is the same as one wap, then just use the existing one you have?

I’m planning to get a UDR, but they’re going to announce a UDR upgrade soon - I’m waiting to see what it’s like (and even if I don’t want it, see how many second hand UDRs are being sold by people who love having the latest stuff)

A lot of initialisms I don’t understand there.

My Ubiquiti wap is very old and doesn’t have 5ghz. Hasn’t been a problem for years as all our PCs are wired. But with 4k streaming on our TV sometimes it doesn’t seem able to keep up.

A just did a quick speedtest with my phone and it only got 14mbits down on the Wifi so it’s time for an upgrade I think.
