I think that’s a bit reductive. I know nothing about the gender identities of Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus. What I do know is that I’m an Old and their ‘music’ sounds like overproduced pop crap to me. I don’t dislike them because it’s trendy or because of homophobia, I just dislike them because I find them obnoxious.
Obviously I don’t know them personally; obviously I’m talking about their public personas. I remember they each pulled a bunch of attention-seeking antics, and coupled with the shitty music it all just seemed very manufactured to gain fans, which yes, I found obnoxious. 🤷🏻♀️
I think I can explain Nickelback: They have a very distinctive sound, and they made like eight extremely similar sounding songs, all of which got significant radio play, that it was pretty easy to get sick of Nickelback.
Bieber is genuinely terrible. Cyrus is genuinely cringe. Does it count if I already generally hate all celebrity worship?
Nickleback is genuinely awful. So is mpst music aired right before and after it. There’s a lot of shitty corporate bands. Hating it definitely became a fad, but a great fad.
Tribals tattoos… whatever, yeah, it just a design to me
It is a noteworthy trend that college or post-university students are the main listeners of Imagine Dragons, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Skillet, deadmau5 and so on.

You don’t need to know them. Just be a little more situational aware. People meme-hate on the Internet for fun.

“Hating furries” was basically a default personality substitute for the first few decades of common internet use, too.

Imagine Dragons is great, honestly. I found those haters are trend chasing idiots. Their music partly saved my life.
