Anyone had an opto-mechanical Razer keyboard? - eviltoast

Took off the Backspace keycap from my Huntsman to clean it and now it won’t go back on properly angery

It seems like it’s the stabilizers- the clips on the keycap don’t clip on to the metal bars like they should. If I press the cap down until I hear them click, the entire key gets stuck down like it’s being pressed. I tried wiggling it upwards, which made the key pop back up slightly, but I still couldn’t make the switch actuate at all.

Even though the cap gets stuck it still doesn’t seem to attach properly since it’s very easy to take off compared to the other longer keys with stabilizers.

I can get the key to sort of work if I push it in halfway so the cap attaches to the actual switch but not the stabilizer bars, but this leaves it sticking out among the other keys and with a shallow, unsatisfying press because the stabilizer clip post things keep hitting something.

Edit: not my photo but this is what the stabilizers look like on these boards:

Ultimately I just replaced it with the Backspace from my broken Logitech keyboard which lacks the Razer stabilizers and is able to be pressed all the way down. I’m just annoyed since I am going to have to take off all the keys at some point for cleaning and it would suck if the bigger keys are all as hard to put back on.

Otherwise it’s been a very nice keyboard, especially since you can get open source RGB apps do you don’t need to sully your system with Synapse.
