A lot of regular MAGA folk were desperate seeing their financial and cultural ways of life going away and chose to believe a conman rather than find real power. The extension is wild though:if you could gain political power by driving people to desperation (and you were a psychopath), wouldn’t you be trying to make their lives worse?
