Use two speakers and a sub for both 2.1 and 5.1 setup

Hey everyone,

I want to connect the pre-outs (front left/right) of an AV receiver to an integrated amplifier that I will also use in a stereo setup.

I was wondering if I could swap the sub that’s currently connected to the AV receiver, to the integrated amp too.

The idea was to enjoy 5.1 with the AV receiver and 2.1 with the integrated amp.

Are the front left/right pre-out passing the audio signal inclusive of sub information, or am I missing anything that’s solely passed via the sub-out of the AV receiver?
