A much more gentle take on death then I would produce. Despite the general unease created by the open mouth and color palette the man doesn’t seem to be suffering and is overall pretty accepting of what is coming. Maybe I’m just neurotic and terrified of the void but I hope that my death will come with the peace that this painting portrays.

I am similarly petrified on an off by the process and form of death. Without the colours he would look quite like a child snoring comfortably. I’ve not read if it’s someone Turner knew or just and image from imagination.
