I remember the first time the video was posted to reddit and all the neck beards were drooling over the singers and appalled by the audience not wanting to worship them. Then there were also the comments saying this is actually how respect is shown in the DPRK because their laws are so strict they would be executed for showing excitement or some bullshit.

Liberals: “If the North Koreans watch just a little bit of western culture, they will immediately want to destroy their evil government”.

North Koreans: “Yeah… This isn’t for me.”

Those people were clearly coming to see some kind of a high value southern art and arrived in their best for such an occasoon. Oh boy-oh boy, what a weird day that was for most of them.

My favorite moment is at 0:50. That south Korean diplomat or whoever he is seems to be thinking, “gosh, this is gonna blow their minds,” while the guy with the Kim Il-Sung pin looks like he’s trying really hard to avoid restarting the Fatherland Liberation War.

And they claim they need to be oppressed by the north Korean government to stop them leaving the dprk when ths South Korean culture seems to be doing all of the heavy lifting. Sometimes propaganda just starts disproving itself…

When it comes to mindless mono-gendered pop ensembles, the DPRK continues to uphold Frankie Valli and the four seasons above all others.

I like kpop tho. North Koreans are based. Love that they try to be respectful and then clap intently at the end.

They were very respectful. There’s a moment between songs where one of the women is out of breath, clearly nervous, and they just clap. Overall, pretty chill.

Thats nice at least. The artists try hard at their work, and I would like k-pop more if there wasn’t the whole corporation-basically-owns-the-artist’s-soul thing going on.

the whole corporation-basically-owns-the-artist’s-soul thing going on

That’s just capitalism ruining art for you, on the west they just steal money, and rights to their own image, from artists so they own souls the same way. Present day is so depressing.
