Why were both alfa romeos struggling so hard? What caused the accident, was it simply an over reaction by zhou, or something mechanical?

From a purely observational standpoint, Zhou had a terrible start off the line. He was getting passed from those behind him; I think he was still accelerating / maneuvering to get position when the pack was braking for the turn.
Exactly! And then he hit RIC, who in turn hit OCO, who hit GAS… poor alpine
The commentators on f1tv were saying that Zhou triggered an anti-stall causing his slow start.
Zhou was a clutch thing that was probably human error. Released too quickly, anti-stall kicked in, had to engage again, and everyone passed him. He the. Clipped Ricciardo, destroyed Gasly’s car and Ocon’s spine.
Bottas, who knows.
Ty! Makes sense
It looked like he just lapsed and missed the lights. It was oddly out of character. I’m assuming we’ll see more analysis in the next couple days
