I will not allow any comments here praising or glorifying Charlie Kirk’s death. If you do so, it is clear that you did not read my piece.

    Heaven forbid.

Sorry Erin, I love you gal, but it’s a good thing when evil people die and I won’t be ascribing to any polite fiction that things are otherwise.

I’m still really conflicted about this situation…

Yes it’s good that his influence in this world is gone but it sucks that it had to be through his death. Also the assassination and the praise for it only fules the fire for the opposite party and goes quite hard against democracy even if it’s good that he’s gone…

Yet I can 100% understand the need to reach for a gun when your own freedom (and by proxy your entire life) is on the line.

I believe the world is better without this man.

I wish he hadn’t been shot. Empathy (and self preservation) make me think of the similar and likely situation of a trans person being murdered because of their perceived ideology.

I don’t want to live in a place where people are killed for their beliefs.

I’m aware of the paradox, and that it wasn’t high caliber ideas in the 2nd world war that defeated Nazis, but rather bullets.
Regardless of the sentiments going around, the US is not currently at war with itself. I would rather not get to that point if it can be helped. Call me naive, but I think civil war can still be avoided.

There are armed masked thugs on the street disappearing people with no rule of law. What is that called if not a war?

And you don’t think violence is an appropriate response to fascist tyranny?? What the fuck is wrong with you? Are you just going to politely get in the gas chamber? Where’s the fucking line for you?

Not everyone needs to go out and shoot a Nazi but let’s be respectful of the people who actually put their life on the line to rid the world of evil.

                Wow, rude.

First of all, I think violence is an appropriate response. That doesn’t mean I have to wish there was more of it. Is it going to be necessary? Almost certainly. But anyone who wants violence should take a long hard look at themselves.

Civil war would lead to starvation, infanticide, rape, and other atrocities. Are horrible things already happening? Obviously. Do you really think there is something “wrong” with someone who doesn’t get off to the idea of more suffering?

We probably agree about more than we disagree, and I don’t think anything I said warrants such hostility. That’s all I’ll say.

I agree. Are we sure that is why Kirk was killed though? Could it possibly be for any of his actions?
